This half-day narrated bus and site tour event will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the May 17, 1954 U.S. Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education landmark desegregation ruling, including the legacy of Louis L. Redding, Esq., Delaware’s first African American attorney and crusader for civil rights and justice whose work laid part of the foundation for the landmark decision.

Sites visited will include the Redding House Museum & Community Center, and Brown v. Board National Historic Park sites Howard High School, Claymont High School, and Hockessin Colored School #107C. This narrated bus tour will be complemented by presentations at each site and a light lunch. Please arrive at Howard High School at 8:30 a.m. as the bus will depart at 9 a.m. from the Howard High School Parking Lot, 401 East 12th Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19801. Participants will ride on a school bus from site to site and be required to exit and reenter the bus several times during this half day excursion. Comfortable shoes for walking and standing are recommended.

Please be advised that street closures for the Wilmington Grand Prix will affect traffic in Downtown Wilmington on May 18th and allow for extra time.
