The Philadelphia Show

April 28 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm EDT

$85.00

Back by popular request, join The Delaware Historical Society on a private excursion to the Philadelphia Show. Formerly the Philadelphia Antiques Show, this annual fair brings historical and contemporary arts to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for all to enjoy.

You will travel with the new Read House & Gardens Director, Dr. Laura Earls, and be greeted by Alexandra Kirtley, the Montgomery-Garvan Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, who will share highlights of the American collections as she escorts us to the show floor. Registration includes door-to-door transport, Alexandra’s insights, and unstructured time in the museum galleries and on the show floor.

As we say each day at the Read House, historic objects and artworks always have something to teach us about ourselves and other people, and it takes multiple perspectives. What better way to experience this year’s show than through a group outing?

Itinerary:

9:00 – Coffee at Read House and Gardens (42 The Strand, New Castle)

9:20 – Boarding behind the Read House on Second Street

9:30 – Bus departs for the Philadelphia Museum of Art

10:30 – Meet Alexandra Kirtley for tour through Galleries to Show Floor

11:30-3:00 – Lunch and exploration on your own throughout the show floor and/or museum galleries

3:00 – Depart PMA for return trip to New Castle
