The History of the Italian Festival in Delaware

Delaware historian Dave Tabler explores the rich history of Delaware’s Italian community with a focus on the Italian Festival in honor of Wilmington’s 50th Saint Anthony of Padua Italian Festival celebration.

Tabler will explore the significance of the Italian American community to Wilmington and the state of Delaware, as well as the origins and major developments of the Festival over the decades. This talk will be held at Huxley & Hiro Booksellers alongside a new exhibit of photography of Italy by Wilmington photographer Jeffrey Ronald.

About the author: Dave Tabler is the author of “Delaware Before the Railroads,” “Delaware from Railways to Freeways,” and the forthcoming “Delaware from Freeways to e-Ways,” available at Huxley & Hiro. The Delaware Historical Society and Huxley & Hiro previously co-hosted his talk: “10 Things You May Not Know About Delaware.”
