The Delaware Historical Society is excited to continue our public program series “Family and Community Day”, with programming selected to honor November’s Native American Heritage Month! Join us Sunday, November 5th at the Read House & Gardens, as we host Algonkian Living Historian Drew Shuptar-Rayvis, advocate for Native culture and preservation. Join us for a day of family-friendly programming that aims to educate on and promote new connections to Native American history.
Enter daily Native life as it was before permanent European settlement. Handle key artifacts such as bark baskets, cups, bowls, stone axes, spoons, bows and arrows, animal pelts, and leather, and discover the techniques archaeologists, historians and anthropologists use to merge their knowledge into an accurate picture of the past.
“Family and Community Day” is the Delaware Historical Society’s quarterly family-learning program, where we strive to provide free, engaging activities for local families and youth.
