Tribute and Memorial gifts   provide a special way to acknowledge and honor a family member or friend. What better way to remember a loved one than to create a circle of giving that acknowledges both the giver and a special person in their lives? Memorial and tributes gifts can also acknowledge the important role that DHS has played in the lives of many of its best supporters.

Gifts to the Collections have made DHS one of the most significant historical organizations in America. The Museum and Library staff are happy to discuss the potential donation of Delaware-related materials with you at any time; you may also wish to contact the Advancement Office to discuss additional gifts, donor recognition, potential tax implications or other matters. Please call our general information number at (302) 655-7161 or e-mail and you will be directed to the appropriate Library or Museum curator .

In-kind donations of equipment, supplies, materials, and services have also filled critical and substantial needs at the Society, as have gifts of stock and property. Please contact our Advancement Office to learn more about these giving options.

It’s easy to donate online. Your online donation is completely secure, and we accept all major credit cards as well as contributions via PayPal.

If you believe that history is important and agree that knowledge of history can inform and inspire, please make a gift today or contact us to discuss the many ways you can become involved with the past, the present and the future at DHS.

What is the difference between the Annual Fund and Membership?

When you become a Member, you give a gift that gives back to you. In return for your membership dues, you enjoy special benefits and privileges like free admission, discounts at the Museum Stores, guest passes and invitations to members-only previews for selected exhibitions and programs. A portion of membership dues is tax-deductible, while all gifts to the Annual Fund are outright, 100% tax-deductible donations that are used solely for the support of day-to-day operations of DHS.

Is my gift tax deductible?

The Society is a certified IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Thank you for contributing to the Delaware Historical Society
