Join the Mitchell Center for African American Heritage as Saniya Gay, Miss Juneteenth 2019-2020, discusses the significance of Juneteenth in Delaware, advocacy of Juneteenth as a national holiday, and the ways we celebrate it.  Attendees are encouraged to share their own Juneteenth traditions.

Saniya Gay is a Senior at Middletown High School located in Middletown, DE. After high school, she will be attending Delaware State University college majoring in Mass Communications.  In 2019, she won the title of Ms. Juneteenth with my platform issue of Domestic Violence. She also won Miss Congeniality in the Delaware Juneteenth Pageant.  She started an organization called “Love Don’t Hurt”, where she helps connects domestic violence victims to resources.

In 2020, she became the Inaugural First National Miss Juneteenth Queen.
