History Lives!...In Odessa
Sunday, May 18, 2014  3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
150th Celebration

3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Please join the Delaware Historical Society for a special late afternoon program of touring, demonstrations, performances and fun at the Historic Houses of Odessa. Three historic houses will be staffed by knowledgeable docents sharing a wealth of information ranging from the extraordinary furniture collections to the families that lived in the beautifully restored properties. A special hearth-side cooking program with a Central Delaware focus has been planned for us and tours of the kitchen and formal gardens will reveal fascinating details of 18th and 19th century life.

The Dover English Country Dancers will bring history to life as they educate and engage us with a lively glimpse into colonial society. If you wish, you can even ask a colonial artist to create your silhouette portrait. Butler and Cooke Antiques, located in one of the Historic Odessa Foundation buildings on Main Street, are extending their Sunday hours to welcome you. The afternoon program will close with a talk by Executive Director Deborah Buckson at the Wilson-Warner Stone Barn.

Post-Program Reception

For those wishing to extend their afternoon in historic Odessa, a reception will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Odessa Bank. Food and drink (including traditional British punch) will make a perfect ending to the afternoon.
